Day 4
we decided to have the opening and the closing as animations, the opening will transition into real live, something similar to "Hostage". :] came up with a lot of ideas and i think we tried to fit too many ideas into the video that it will become too complicated. so we'll have another meeting soon and hopefully we'll be able to finalise what we want in the video. Having identified the target audience, we are trying to find ways to attract them by having things they like and want to know. so we asked each other this question: why did you pick TP? why MOI over other courses? since we were once the "target audience" ourselves (students deciding on where they want to study at), we asked ourselves as the answers would probably the content we should be working on. if we went to TP because of the factors found in the answers to those questions, then our target audience most likely will.
anyhoo, we're all going to research on more documentaries and hopefully it'll give us some more ideas. i think we might stick to the harry potter idea (the moving images part of it)...but the story idea is pretty much scrapped. we might actually do a "before and after" kind of thing...still unsure...gotta discuss more on day 4 (next monday)! woot at least i don't have to update this blog tomorrow, saturday and on sunday. :]

Day 3
ANYWAY, the documentary was well-filmed. there was proper lighting, set designs, audio and overall it looked professionally made. unlike this video about some dudes going to climb Mt.Everest (can't really remember what it was about). the opening was kinda promising and then as it progressed, i felt it was such a letdown. it looked like a tourist video, it was really shaky, plus the music at the background was loud to the point it was quite hard to hear the people's dialogues. that's for the style only though, i can't say much about the content since i'm no mountain climber. Maybe the producers are more interested in showing the content and thus didn't really pay much attention to how it would look...
After that, we also saw a part of the making of the film "gangs of new york"! i thought it looked like a pretty good film and i have heard that it's good too, so germs (my twin) and i went to borrow the movie from our dad's video rental shop.
(warning: shameless promoting up ahead.)
its near simei MRT along a row of coffeeshops. it has a wide range of movies you can rent for only $3/vcd, $10/4vcds. yea. :b english, chinese, hindi, tamil, jap, korean, you name it. :] gogogogogo rent!
Ooorigh back to the lesson. After that, we were shown some openings and closings from Ronald to several films like Monster Inc., Shoot them up, Hostage, etc. They were all really interesting. But the opening for Hostage stayed in my mind the most! i like how it transitioned from animation to video. then Wahidah showed us some documentary...can't really remember what it was about. :X something about war i think. it was pretty boring to be honest.
So overall, some of the videos shown today inspired and made me want to do a really good video for the project, cause i won't enjoy seeing crappy work being put up for show. i also saw the importance of having appropriate audio and set design. the theme and quality of the video should also be consistent, i don't want it to be like the documentary about the mountain climbers. there's no point in having quite a good start and then let it be ruined by other parts of the video.
yea so thats all for today!

Day 2
So...on to day two! Today my group got to discuss more about our project. Jen's got a bad stomach ache during discussion...*pats back* Ahh it's only the second post but I don't know why but I am finding it quite a pain to type in this blog (uh oh sloth)...can't imagine doing it for the rest of the block. Oh wait, it's for two entire blocks! :S Hopefully I can type something more interesting as we go on through the project.
Anyway, we generated a couple of ideas and eventually settled on one cause the rest seemed too cliché...you know the usual news casting stuff and all. :] So we ended up deciding to make it into a "Harry Potter-ish" kind of style. :D Yay love Harry Potter. I feel that the books are better than the movies though. And nope, we're not going to pretend that TP is like Hogwarts or something, but rather we'll have like a moving scene within a picture. For example, to show the photography module, we'll have a scene of us going out to shoot and this will be shown on something that represents photography...like a film roll or something. I don't know yet. Aha. Well we've got the general idea but haven't got the details down yet...we'll probably add more to that as well, like some sort of story going throughout the video.
We shared our idea with Alfie and i think he liked the style. But we weren't really focusing on the content but more concerned about how the video would look. So we've got to discuss more about the content, target audience etc.
Tomorrow we're going to the lecture room and we'll get to see some good and bad videos, so we'll know what to do and what not to. :]

Brudder!! :D

Jen looking very unglam. lawl! :]
...oorigh...erm. yea so...bye!

Day 1
Sooo, here's the update about day 1. Today is the first lesson and all the MOIers gathered in the lecture room for a briefing on our project. We are suppose to create a video presentation on works we've done for the past 10 months and apply what we've learn on the video. We also got the schedule for the teaching days, when is our presentations and such. And we got from Wednesday to Friday off next week! Woot chinese new year! :D
we later went to our own classes (mine's Alfie's class) and we grouped ourselves onto groups. My group has 5 people and they are Adeline (brudder!!), Kala, Jen and Shushu!! :D We got briefed further by Alfie and then our class ended so yea. Thats for today's lesson. The end. :]
